Employment Lawyers — Melbourne

Employer-side employment law for Melbourne businesses — contracts, classification, restraints, exits and Fair Work claims. Fixed fees, senior lawyer on the file.

Fixed fee. Senior lawyer.

Every engagement is quoted upfront and led by a senior lawyer — never a paralegal-first pipeline.

How we help

What we handle for you.

Concrete deliverables — not a general "advice" retainer. Each item can be scoped as a one-off fixed-fee package or bundled into a monthly counsel arrangement.

  • 01

    Employment contracts & letters

Full-time, part-time, casual and maximum-term contracts drafted against the correct modern award, with IP, confidentiality and post-employment restraints that hold up.

  • 02

    Contractor vs employee classification

Reviewing contractor arrangements against the current sham-contracting and 'employee-like' provisions — before the ATO, Fair Work or a workers' comp insurer does it for you.

  • 03

    Award & entitlement audits

Award coverage, classification levels, annualised salary set-offs, long service leave under the Long Service Leave Act 2018 (Vic) and underpayment remediation.

  • 04

    Terminations & performance exits

Performance management plans, redundancy processes, show-cause letters and deeds of release drafted to close out unfair dismissal and general protections risk.

  • 05

    Restraints & confidential information

Enforceable non-solicit and non-compete drafting, plus urgent advice when a departing employee takes clients, staff or data.

  • 06

    Policies, WFH & workplace obligations

Workplace policies, Victorian work-from-home settings, psychosocial hazard duties under OHS, and sexual harassment positive-duty compliance.

Who this is for

Clients we work best with.

  • Melbourne employers hiring their first 5–50 staff
  • Businesses converting contractors to employees (or the reverse)
  • Employers managing a performance exit or redundancy round
  • Companies responding to an unfair dismissal or underpayment claim

How we work

No surprises. Ever.

Fixed fees quoted upfront. Senior lawyer on every file. Clear next steps at every stage.

  1. 01 — Brief

Send a short brief or book a 15-minute call. We'll confirm scope and what you actually need — often that's less than you think.

  2. 02 — Fixed-fee quote

You get a written scope and a fixed fee before we start. No hourly billing, no scope-creep invoices.

  3. 03 — Senior lawyer, on the tools

The lawyer you scoped with is the lawyer doing the work. We turn drafts around fast and stay reachable throughout.

FAQs

Common questions.

Do you act for employers or employees?
Employers. Every engagement is one client with one interest — we do not act on both sides of the same dispute.
Is a contractor agreement enough to make someone a contractor?
No. The written contract matters more than it used to, but the arrangement still has to reflect a genuine business-to-business relationship. Misclassification exposes you to back-pay, superannuation, leave, payroll tax and penalties. We review the contract and the actual working pattern together.
What is different about employing staff in Victoria?
Long service leave accrues under the Long Service Leave Act 2018 (Vic) — with entitlements accessible after 7 years — and Victoria has its own OHS regime rather than the harmonised WHS laws. Interstate template contracts routinely get both wrong.
How much does an employment contract cost?
Most standalone employment contracts are a fixed fee in the $1,500–$3,000 + GST range, including award check and restraint drafting. A full contract suite for a growing team is scoped after a short call.
We have received a Fair Work claim. Can you help fast?
Yes. Send the application through and you will hear from a senior lawyer within one business day with the response deadline, the realistic range of outcomes and a fixed fee to run it.
