Practice areas/Advice & Compliance

Advice & Compliance

Practical judgement calls on the regulatory questions growing businesses actually face — privacy, ACL, AML, employment, WHS and directors' duties.

Fixed fee. Senior lawyer.

Every engagement is quoted upfront and led by a senior lawyer — never a paralegal-first pipeline.

How we help

What we handle for you.

Concrete deliverables — not a general "advice" retainer. Each item can be scoped as a one-off fixed-fee package or bundled into a monthly counsel arrangement.

  • 01

    Financial services

AFSL applications and variations, credit licensing, RG compliance, breach reporting, responsible manager support and ASIC engagement.

  • 02

    Privacy & data

Privacy Act 2026 reforms, collection notices, data breach response plans and cross-border transfer arrangements.

  • 03

    Australian Consumer Law

Unfair contract terms review, consumer guarantees, misleading conduct exposure, refund and warranty policies.

  • 04

    AML / CTF

Tranche 2 uplift for real estate, legal, accounting and dealers in precious metals — programs, KYC and reporting workflows.

  • 05

    Employment & WHS

Fair Work compliance, contractor vs employee classification, termination advice, WHS duties and incident response.

  • 06

    Marketing & digital

Spam Act, Do Not Call Register, comparative advertising, influencer disclosures and platform terms.

  • 07

    Directors & governance

Director duties, board papers, related-party dealings, insolvent-trading risk and policy frameworks.

Who this is for

Clients we work best with.

  • Businesses uplifting for Privacy Act 2026 or AML Tranche 2
  • In-house teams needing a second opinion on a live compliance issue
  • Boards and executives wanting a governance and directors' duties review
  • Regulated entities preparing for or responding to ASIC / ACCC / OAIC / AUSTRAC engagement

How we work

No surprises. Ever.

Fixed fees quoted upfront. Senior lawyer on every file. Clear next steps at every stage.

  1. 01 — Question in

Send the question, policy or notice. We'll come back with a scoped, fixed-fee proposal within one business day.

  2. 02 — Written advice

Senior-lawyer advice in plain English with the practical next step, not a hedged memo.

  3. 03 — Implement

Where it needs a document, policy or training rollout, we handle that in the same engagement.

FAQs

Common questions.

Can I just ask a one-off compliance question?
Yes. Send it through and we'll scope a fixed fee to answer it in writing. Simple questions are often $500–$1,500 + GST.
Do you review existing policies or do we start from scratch?
Either. If you already have a policy, we'll mark it up against current law and your actual business. If you need one from scratch, we'll draft it around how you operate rather than a template.
Do you handle regulator correspondence?
Yes — ASIC, ACCC, OAIC, AUSTRAC and APRA. We prepare responses and, where appropriate, sit in on interviews or meetings.
Can you help with an AFSL application or variation?
Yes. We prepare and lodge AFSL applications and variations, draft the supporting proofs, and advise on responsible manager requirements and ongoing licence obligations.
How quickly will you come back to me?
You'll hear from a senior lawyer within one business day with a scoped, fixed-fee proposal — no hourly billing and no obligation to proceed.
