Frequently asked questions
Does my business need a privacy policy in Australia?
If the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies to you, yes. It generally applies to businesses with annual turnover above $3 million, and to some smaller businesses such as health service providers and those trading in personal information. Many smaller businesses publish a policy anyway because app stores, platforms and enterprise customers expect one.
What is a privacy compliance review?
We map the personal information you collect, where it is stored and who it is disclosed to, then compare your practices and documents against the Australian Privacy Principles. You receive a prioritised list of gaps and updated documents, for a fixed fee agreed upfront.
Do the 2026 privacy reforms affect my business?
Possibly. Recent amendments added a statutory tort for serious invasions of privacy and require privacy policies to explain certain automated decisions. We check which changes reach your business and update your policy and collection notices accordingly. See our privacy law update for the detail.
Can you help with overseas hosting and offshore service providers?
Yes. Disclosing personal information overseas engages APP 8. We review your hosting, support and AI vendors and the contract terms that keep you accountable for how they handle data.
Do you handle privacy complaints or court proceedings?
No. Envision Legal is a contracts and advisory firm. We prepare policies, agreements and compliance advice, and do not run litigation.
