Pricing
Fixed fee. Written up front. Every time.
Every commercial matter at Envision Legal is quoted as a written fixed fee before we start work. No hourly rate. No six-minute increments. No surprise invoice at the end of the month.
The promise
What "fixed-fee" actually means here.
Written scope, written fee.
Before we open a file we send a scope of work and a fixed fee. You approve it. That's the price.
No hourly rate.
We don't run a time-recording system for fixed-fee work. There is no meter running when you email us during a matter.
Scope creep is our problem.
If the matter turns out to be harder than we thought — a nastier due diligence, a longer negotiation — we absorb it. That's the deal.
Changes are re-quoted, in writing, in advance.
If you materially change the scope (new counterparty, new structure, new document), we send an updated written quote. You approve it before we do the extra work.
Disbursements are itemised, not marked up.
ASIC fees, stamp duty, search fees — passed through at cost. No inflated "admin" line item.

Why we do it this way
Because the alternative is worse for both of us.
Hourly billing punishes you for asking questions and rewards us for being slow. It also makes the final invoice a lottery — we've had clients tell us they've received bills 40% higher than the "estimate" the firm gave them at the start.
A written fixed fee before work starts fixes both problems. You know what it costs. We're incentivised to be efficient. And when the matter is complex, the risk of getting the estimate wrong sits with us — where it belongs.
It's the same reason your accountant, your bookkeeper and your marketing agency price this way. Legal is late to it. We're not.
Common questions
FAQ.
Are Envision Legal's fees really fixed?
Yes. Every commercial engagement is quoted as a written fixed fee before work starts. If scope changes, we agree the new fee in writing before doing the extra work.
What if the matter turns out to be more complex than expected?
That's our problem, not yours. If we've quoted a fixed fee and the work takes longer than we thought, we absorb it. Scope only changes when you materially change what you're asking us to do — and even then, the new fee is agreed in writing before we proceed.
How much does a business contract cost?
Standard commercial contracts sit between $1,500 and $6,000 + GST. Bespoke enterprise agreements — MSAs, distribution deeds, licensing — sit between $6,000 and $15,000 + GST. See the pricing table above.
Do you charge for the initial consultation?
No. The first 15-minute call is free and no-obligation. If we're a fit we send a written fixed-fee quote. If we're not, we say so.
Do you take litigation on fixed fee?
Fixed-fee for contentious work is stage-based — pre-action, statement of claim, discovery, mediation, trial. We quote each stage in writing before moving to it.
